The law firm of Aycock & Butler, PLLC consists of three lawyers, each of whom live and work on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Charlie Aycock began his practice here in 1977, Betsy Butler in 1987 and Matt Spencer in 1998. It is the policy of the firm to keep all matters strictly confidential and to dedicate the practice to meeting the legal needs of the community. A Native of the Commonwealth of Virginia, having been born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia. Graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1977. Received her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond in 1987. Legal emphasis in personal injury, research, legal writing, and appellate work. Resides in Currituck County, North Carolina with her husband, Bill. Hobbies include golf, boating and fishing. |

A native of Newport News, Virginia who moved to Dare County in 1996. He graduated from James Madison University in 1995 with a degree in Psychology and Political Science. Received his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 1998. Matt’s legal practice focuses on civil litigation. He prides himself on having an attentive ear, an open mind and a determination to see justice done. Resides in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina with his wife, Sarah.
